The Video Digerati by McKinsey Consulting

McKinsey does another excellent study, Are your customers becoming digital junkies? Here are some highlights based on my standing as a certified video digerati.

New labels for prospective early campers you need to recruit to your new idea, cause or cure.

"...people most likely to be early adopters of new technologies (whom we label “digital-media junkies”), often younger men; those spending more time on social networks (“digital communicators”), often women; and those more likely to consume Internet-based video (“video digerati”)."

With earthsayers.tv, the voices of sustainability (our cause) it's the video digerati we have become and the group we are seeking as audience.  According to the study the V-digerati view 2.6 times more videos across all platforms. Tie this to the findings that "smartphone users already are more accustomed to paying for digital content and services than traditional online users" and you can see an opportunity. And, as also noted, "pay-TV companies, for example, are starting to offer their programming across tablets and mobile devices" meaning TV programming is slowly becoming peripheral neutral.

I'm a video digerati and a digital-media junky with a twitterati habit (@earthsayer, @digitalsavvyite) who is deeply involved in increasing sustainability awareness and adoption. Put that in your pipe and smoke it!
