The thought crosses my mind at least once a month, yet I see it as an educational channel - mostly push - but one part of an effort to get the word out. I can understand how it contributes to feeling connected (this is when someone recommends getting out more often), but not so sure about 42% of consumers learning about products and services via Twitter. Seems high to me, but if they are seeing the same message across multiple channels, Twitter certainly helps reinforce that message (and image as 55% of tweets contain one).
Take a look at these statistics.
- As of the second quarter of 2015, Twitter averaged 304 million monthly active users according to Twitter. HubSpot reported back in June that Twitter had over 270 million global active users.
- 85% of followers feel more connected with a small business after following them
- According to Social Quant, citing the study, 42% of consumers learn about products and services via Twitter
While checking out the HubSpot site for their numbers, ran across this infographic on how people use Twitter. My own use of Twitter is very sporadic. Using Hootsuite, I post to multiple Twitter accounts to include: @earthsayer, @pxdowntowner, @digitalsavvyite, and @mokiethecat - my first account.
It does appear that people commuting (and not driving one hopes) are likely to be on Twitter, most tweeted events are sports/entertainment oriented, and the younger crowd is using Twitter after work hours. Take a closer look:
