YouTube as the #1 Social Network

As usual Greg Jarboe of ReelSEO in his blog post has the latest numbers and the one that stuck out and needs your attention is this one: "YouTube just passed Facebook and is now the largest social media site."

Most of my clients understand that YouTube is a video hosting service and post their videos to the site knowing it is the second most popular search engine and being found, well, it precedes engagement, making YouTube crucial to a search strategy for an individual, organization, product, service, and/or campaign.  What else to do now that you understand YouTube as a social network?

1. Subscribe to the channels of like-minded organizations.  If you are saving the wolf, connect up with other environmental organizations addressing the categories of biodiversity and environmental campaigning.  Expand your horizons.

2. Make sure your YouTube channel is well connected so adding videos as well as "liking" a video or playlist is an activity that produces content for your social media network.  Make important connections.

Plus everytime you "like" a video you have the option to spread the word:

You can sign up to receive emails when organizations you are partnered with or would like to partner with update their channel.   If you select the gear icon to the right of the subscribe button,
you will see this option:
More to follow on using YouTube as a social network for search purposes and to pepper your social network with valuable content - yours and those of like minded organizations and individuals.
